Poetry Tuesdays — The Omen

In honor of being able to watch this 40 year old classic on the big screen. Beware: ‘Theologians have interpreted the ‘eternal sea’ as meaning the world of politics, the sea that constantly rages with turmoil and revolution. So the devil’s child will rise from the world of politics.’

When the Jews return to Zion
and a comet rips the sky,
and the Holy Roman Empire rises;
then you and I must die.

From the eternal sea he rises,
creating armies on either shore,
turning man against his brother,
’til man exists no more.

The Biblical poem by Father Brennan about the Antichrist’s birth and rise to power

Until next time,
